I was a Tech for Roland for three years. I came across some pretty funny language problems.

In all of the "Fantom" keyboards, when you go through the internal diagnostic sequence, the last screen says (in perfect Japanenglish) "Test OK, Prease Power Off"
The funny part is it has not been corrected over three generations of this model.

My favorite one is an older "home piano", can't recall the model.
The MIDI jack test displays a mesage on the LCD "MIDI OK, JACK ON", but if there is a problem... you guessed it... "MIDI ERROR, JACK OFF".
No word of a lie.

I love the Japanese.

Working for a company which does computer repair, you're bound to see strange things. People who want their... "media" backed up. Stories I've heard range from "I've got some good stuff on there (hint hint)" to videos popping up randomly while trying to troubleshoot the computer.

Anyway, my personal story comes from a person wanting to have their laptop repaired. The guy thinks he spilled Gatorade on his laptop, which can be a very pricey repair, since it can damage several major components. Anyway, I told him the repair would be almost the cost of a new one (at the minimum), and his girlfriend/wife? proceeds to talk about his "collection" on the computer, and if it's possible to save it. I mention data backup as a possibility, but then the guy proceeds to go into his story: Gatorade was on nightstand, laptop was on floor, and during "activities you don't need to know about," Gatorade spilled on said laptop.

That one was one of the more curious repairs I've checked in...

When dogs attack....

Today I had a customer picking up a tube preamp I built for him and in passing he mentions that "something happened" to the 50s Oahu Tonemaster I rebuilt for him some time ago. I asked what happened and he said his dog attacked it. Apparently it happened while he was at work one day. Completely tore up the front and ripped off a good amount of the covering. Basically ruined this vintage amp cosmetec wise. My guess? This was the dog's way of telling him he can't play for shit. I take the dog's side......

My favorite one from my own personal expierience is the call I got to my guitar repair shop years back. It went something like this...
"Guitar repair...can I help you?"
"Yes, how much would it cost to have a new soundhole put in my guitar?"
"I'm sorry...what did you say?"
"I want to know how much you will charge to put a new soundhole in my acoustic guitar?"
"What's wrong with the one that's in there now?"
"I just don't like it and want a new one!"
"Do you mean you want it enlarged?"
"No...(frustrated) I just want a new one!"
"Well, I would like to help you out, but I am currently out of stock of "holes"!"
"Oh, do you know when you might be getting some more in?"
At this point, I realize that the guy has a legitimate question, but does not know what he is saying. So after about 4 or 5 minutes of me questioning him (meanwhile, he is thinking I'm the idiot), I finally figured out that he wanted to replace the "rosette" (decretive ring) around the soundhole.
Work in this business long enough and I guess you here everything.
