by Casey4s (AKA David McClain) This was my second attempt at a Homebrew. It is essentially a 5F6-A circuit but powered by 4 6V6s as oppeosed to the usual 6L6/5881 power tubes. It has 4 Eminence Kapton 10 Alnico speakers. It uses 4 Mazda 6V6s; two Amperex 5751s; A 12Ay7; and a Mullard GZ34 Rectifier. I used Brimar 6V6s; an RCA 5y3GT; a GE 12AX7; and a Raytheon 12AY7. I used a 10" Fender Blue frame speaker to brighten the amp up a little and save a little space int eh cabinet. After the original build I tore it appart and added a bright switch to channel one, and added a Bass/Treble/Midrange control to the tone stack and I am plesed with the enhancement. by Rick kellems My home made "Champ" clone started out as a Military tube tape recorder from the 50's. I completely disassembled it and rewired it as a Tweed style Champ circuit.The chassis had other tubes and huge oversized transformers and choke.I removed the tubes i didn't need and wired it up with cathode caps on both stages of the preamp section with no feedback. I replaced the 220k input load resistor with a 250k pot for a master volume. With new filter caps this thing really cooks. It's all hand wired directly point to point using termanal strips and the actual terminals on the tube sockets and pots. All the resistors and capacitors are brand new. i even used the large opening that was used for the "electric eye" tube for a giant pilot light useing a piece of gel paper behind a #47 lamp. So I called it "Little Bear". I ended up gutting most of the chassis except the transformers and tube sockets. It's basicly a Fender Priceton Tweed preamp/tone stack set up into a EL84 SE power amp. It has standby switch, power switch, switchable Varable Negative Feedback control that returns the second stage preamp to cathode bypass cap when switch off of VNF. I constructed the cab/head out of plywood and covered it with blone tolex. This amp is very loud and has a good measure of clean head room for it set up. by Tbonz Cleaning out my parents belongings from their home of 45 years I came across our 45 record player we had a s kids back in the 50's/60's and fondly remember playing the "Purple people eater meets the Blob" and "Splish Splash" and later "I Want to Hold Your Hand" and "Norwegian Wood"! Good memories along with all the other great stuff my folks that had recently both passed had pack ratted away including boxes with all my old issues of Mad Magazines, Drag News and Hot Wheels! The record player needle was gone and the arm itself looked bent or distorted but the cabinet was dusty but cherry so I plugged it in and it warmed up and the turntable motor slipped and as I ran my finger over the bare wire for the needle it made a distinctive scratching sound like an guitar amp makes when you brush the guitar cord before you plug it into your guitar? It struck me like lighting on two levels ...this could be a tube driven amp because of it's era...and I wonder if I soldered a female 1/4" guitar plug onto this could I plug a blues harp mic into it and would it sound cool?...YES it Does! I kept the whole works in the cool little portable case and mounted a 8" speaker where the turntable used to sit and just open it up to play it! Not loud and only the bass /treble original tone control ...yet it's tone is warm and when cranked all the way does have a bit of drive...could maybe be mike-d ....looking for ideas in ways to improveit maybe with a little more omph! I am a novice at building anything electronic but I can read a schematic and solder! Thanks and to all keep up the cool amp & guitar building and vinatge electronics recycling! AX84 P1 Rev 10

The problem was that I couldn't find a reasonable chassis to fit it until Mojo started to restock their Duluxe chassis. So I sent JD the chassis and he made a cab head for it. I've gathered most of the parts I needed (resisters, caps, sockets)from www.PartsExpress.com: , the Deluxe Reverb chassis from Mojo, as well as the tubes and wiring. The PT, OT, and choke ( a whopping $175 of iron) from www.AllenAmps.com. The AB763 schematic has a midrange and presence to the circuit(s). This is a single ended amp featuring a single preamp tube, designed to accomodate many different octal power tubes (6L6GC, 5881, KT66, EL34...). Well, he decided he wanted something bigger. So after successfully prototyping the basic design I added a tremolo circuit and then a spring reverb. Sounds much bigger than a SE 12 watt amp. by Brian Hill- Hill Amplification 36watt EL84 based prototype. It has a half power switch, so it can run at around 18 watt half power or 36watt full and it can be switched into ultralinear mode for more output but a smoother more headroom type of sound. I used a PT out of a old Zenith console amp running four EL84s ( Shown) but had to switch to a Hammond type 270HX I had laying around because the heater taps on the Z, PT were running at around 15volt.
